A better way to mount your Seymour Duncan SSB-4 bass pickups.
The EZO SSB-4 Pickup Mounting Plate System provides a clean, repeatable, and serviceable way to install Seymour Duncan SSB-4 pickups into a direct-mount pickup cavity.
Instead of driving pickup mounting screws directly into the instrument body, the EZO mounting plate installs beneath the pickup and provides dedicated mounting points for the pickup hardware. This creates a more controlled installation while allowing the pickup to be removed, adjusted, and reinstalled without repeatedly threading screws into the body wood.
Designed alongside our SSB-4 Routing Template, the mounting plate system takes the guesswork out of one more part of the build.
Why Use a Mounting Plate?
Traditional direct mounting works, but repeated adjustment and removal can eventually wear the mounting holes in the instrument body. It can also make pickup installation unnecessarily fiddly—especially when you're trying to manage screws, springs, foam, pickup height, and alignment at the same time.
The EZO system creates a dedicated mounting structure beneath the pickup.
The plate itself is secured inside the pickup cavity, while integrated mounting bosses provide consistent locations for the pickup screws. The result is a pickup installation that's easier to assemble, easier to service, and easier to reproduce on future builds.
Designed for Real-World Builds
The system was developed around the actual dimensions and installation requirements of the Seymour Duncan SSB-4 pickup rather than being adapted from a generic mounting plate.
The compact design fits beneath the pickup without requiring a traditional pickup ring, preserving the clean appearance of a direct-mounted pickup.
Use the system with pickup springs, foam support, or a combination of both depending on your preferred pickup-height setup.
