The EZO Venus de Milo Soloist Universal Body Template is a reusable full-size MDF routing template for builders who want to create the Venus de Milo body shape without needing a CNC router. The Soloist is a single-cut offset design developed around three priorities: playing comfort, straightforward production, and accessibility for builders working in a home workshop.

Its offset proportions are intended to sit naturally against the player, while the clean single-cut outline keeps the shape visually distinctive without making the body unnecessarily difficult to fabricate. The result is a body profile that feels modern and ergonomic, but is still practical to build with common small-shop tools.

Use the template to trace the body onto your blank, rough-cut the shape with a bandsaw or jigsaw, then establish the finished perimeter with a pattern or flush-trim router bit.

Single-Cut Offset, Built for Comfort

The Venus de Milo Soloist combines the strong visual identity of a single-cut electric guitar with the ergonomic benefits of an offset body shape. The asymmetric waist and body balance are intended to make the instrument comfortable whether you're playing seated or standing, while maintaining the distinctive VDM silhouette.

This isn't an offset shape for the sake of being unusual. The body geometry was developed to create an instrument that feels natural against the player and remains visually compact and purposeful.

Designed for the Home Workshop

The Soloist body was designed from the beginning with small-shop production in mind. You shouldn't need an industrial CNC, oversized machinery, specialized fixtures, or a commercial guitar factory to make one.

The body is intentionally sized so it can be produced from a blank only 12.5 inches wide. That dimension was chosen specifically to make the design practical for luthiers using compact lunchbox-style thickness planers, allowing many home builders to prepare and thickness their own body blanks without needing a full-size industrial planer.

That means the production workflow can stay within the reach of a modest home shop: joint and glue your blank, thickness it with a compact planer, trace the VDM profile, rough-cut with a bandsaw or jigsaw, then bring the perimeter to final shape with a router and pattern or flush-trim bit.

The template acts as a reusable master, making repeat builds much easier and reducing the amount of layout work required each time.

That makes the VDM Soloist especially well suited to garage shops, basement workshops, maker spaces, and small luthier benches where practical tooling, limited machine capacity, and repeatable processes matter.

Universal by Design

The same Soloist body profile can serve as the foundation for a guitar, bass, baritone, or custom instrument. The template intentionally does not dictate neck pocket, pickups, bridge, electronics, or control layout, so you're free to choose the hardware and geometry that fit your build.
